How a CAS decision kickstarted Forest's summer

How a CAS decision kickstarted Forest's summer Amongst the Forest fanbase, despite the signigs of Dan Ndoye, Angus Gunn, Jair Cunha & Igor Jesus, was an underbelly of anxiety. However, following admission to the Europa league, transfer talk has ramped up, and Nottingham Forest are shocking the Premier League with their moves. Impressing a Premier League fanbase is not easy. Even with Forest achieving Europe, the "what if" of Champions League football still lingers in the air even today - but now, the club are writing a new chapter. Despite some worries, with the business being done, European football being sustained should absolutely be a target, either through league position, or winning a trophy.  Earlier this week, CAS (independent Court of Arbitration for Sport) decided that Crystal Palace had breached Multi-Club Ownership (MCO) rules - as stated in Article 5 of the UEFA European competitions rule book. Therefore with this ruling, Nottingham Forest were admitted t...

Morgan and Marinakis -- a huge contract coup

Image
Morgan and Marinakis How a "quick conversation" secured one of the most crucial deals in the clubs recent history.  Ever since the window began, expectation on the Forest board has been high; a 7th place finish, which due to legal reasons could cause a Europa League finish, has Forest fans dreaming. Not only are they dreaming, but expecting -- a drop-off from this season perhaps wouldn't be necessarily unexpected, but the levels and standards now are far higher. Forest have to recruit well, keep hold of their stars, and build for a crucial, game-intense season. Talking of keeping their stars, that brings me on to one of the biggest talking points in the Premier League right now - how Forest someone kept Morgan Gibbs-White, despite a "triggered release clause" by Tottenham Hotspur, and a supposed agreement on personal terms. How on earth did Forest clinch Gibbs-White's signature in the midst of all the noise, which was seemingly out of their hands given the c...

Perspective crucial as Forest secure European football

Image
Perspective crucial as Forest secure European football   A rather strange spectacle was Saturday afternoon; the odds were on Forest’s side - despite recent poor form - to secure some form of European qualification, and so the Reds did. But that wasn’t the strange part: a match ending in boos, the owner entering the pitch, and a tirade of social media rants from fans — have some lost perspective? This season, the odds were against Forest. Countless ‘pundits’ had Forest as down, back to the championship, some believing their time in this division was simply a “honeymoon” period. In fact, after finishing on just 32 points last season (almost half of their tally this season to date), even most Forest fans were uncertain over the future. The players didn’t have the same connection, Nuno and the fans hadn’t gelled to the standard Cooper had with them, and some big signings just weren’t performing. This was all just over a year ago. In football, and sorry to put it informally, and ...

With b...

Nottingham Forest hire new CEO

Nottingham Forest hire new CEO In another move to improve Nottingham Forest’s management structure, Evangelos Marinakis has made the decision to hire ex-Olympiacos & Roma higher-up, Lina Souloukou as the clubs new CEO. —————————————————————————————————————————— Nottingham Forest have been, since their return to the Premier League, making additions on and off the pitch: the hiring of ex-Rangers staff member Ross Wilson amongst many being key to Forest’s success, especially within recruitment. Now looking to further bolster the clubs management structure, a close ally of Marinakis - Lina Souloukou - has joined his football group, as new CEO of Nottingham Forest. Who is Lina Souloukou? Most recently, Lina Souloukou held the position of CEO & General manager of Italian giants, Roma, however after a turbulent time surrounding Daniele De Rossi’s sacking, she left the club, and since Roma has struggled for stability and sit 10th in Serie A.  Prior to this though, Souloukou spent y...

Meet the Forest fan signing about “This Town” - a tribute to Nottingham

Image
Meet the Forest fan signing about “This Town” - a tribute to Nottingham Nottingham is a City of creatives, passionate, and proud residents; how can someone emulate these characteristics, and showcase them to not only residents of Nottingham, to remind them how special the City is, but also for those perhaps wanting to learn a bit about the City? Well, Louis Croft did, and did so splendidly - this is his story, and the story of his new EP: “This Town”. Born in Gamston, Nottingham, Louis is no stranger to the “way” Nottingham is, and what the City represents. A lifelong Forest fan also, he understands just how much sports means to the area - an area encompassing one of the most unique & spectacular sporting landscapes in the country: Two Football League clubs, situated either side of the Trent, and an acclaimed Cricket venue to put the Cherry on the icing on the cake. A superb location for sports, and culture - “This Town” is, in essence, a combination of the two. Music has been...
